I have heard so many say after a prayer meeting that they didn't feel
the presence of the Lord.
I have come away saying the same thing myself.
It took me a long time to figure out why all the others came away
saying that the spirit was really moving tonight.
A very dear sister in the Lord told me one day that I had to come to
the meeting expecting to be in the Lords presence.
To do that you have to prepare to meet the Lord.
She taught me that fasting and praying the day of the meeting was
necessary to open yourself to the Lord.
We have meetings on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sundays.
It was really hard at first.
First of all to get used to not eating all day.
After a couple of weeks that wasn't too bad.
But getting used to praying all day was something else.
My prayers were so formal I felt like they were bouncing off the
ceiling.
So then I started talking to the Lord as my best friend.
That made it easier.
Then one day the Lord showed me that praying and talking to Him was
good but needed more.
I wasn't opening myself to the Lord as much as I should have been.
So then I started praising the Lord and worshiping Him besides
praying.
But I still wanted to be closer to the Lord.
I have the gift of tongues but hadn't really used it in years.
So then I started praying in tongues.
My walk with the Lord grew closer.
I started going to the meetings expecting to be in the presence of the
Lord.
The Holy Spirit within you knows what you should be praying for.
So when you pray in tongues your prayers are more effective.
The Holy Spirit knows your heart and will pray the desires of your
heart when we can't find the right words to pray.
I am not saying that all Christians have to speak in tongues.
That your prayers will not be effective because they will be.
The Lord knows your hearts desire.
Not everyone has the gift of tongues.
But if you want the gift of tongues just ask the Lord for the gift of
tongues.
You can get close to the Lord without it.
But it was easier for me since I did speak in tongues.
Fast, praise, worship, pray, open yourself to the Lord and go to the
meetings expecting to be in the presence of the Lord.
My prayer is who ever reads these words, the Lord gave me, will seek
the Lord and desire to be in His presence and have faith that He
will be there for you.
