GOD IS EVERYTHING
I once heard the testamony of a man who had been a preacher for
many years.
He had started every sermon with God is everything and I am nothing.
Many said he would never be a good preacher.
He had gone from a small country church to a large church.
He never changed the way he started his sermons.
He was a humble man and he gave all the glory to God.
I thought about pastors that started with small country churches and
when the numbers increased they started saying that they were
the reason the church grew.
They were not giving God any of the glory.
They call the church their church.
Then I thought about my own life.
I took a lot of pride as far as my jobs went and everything else.
As I think back I braged about getting awards for a job well done.
Everyone talked about what a good boy my son was.
My pride grew with every compliment.
Then I met the Lord.
As I got to know the Lord I realized that even when I didn't know Him
He was helping me.
I take no credit for those things now.
I looked at my life again.
When my life was in a mess that is what I could say that is what I did
with my life.
The only thing good in me is what the Holy Spirit does through me.
I can write a letter but to write the words that the Lord gives me to
write is impossible for me to do.
I pray that no one would look to me and say what a good writer I am
because it is not me.
All the glory goes to the Lord.
The only thing I can claim is when I make a bad choice.
When that happens the Lord steps in and shows me the error of my
ways.
Pride is one sin that is easy to pick up because we are human.
That is why it is so important to check your motives for what you are
doing.
Many of the kings in the old testament fell because of their pride.
Down through the years it would have done well for those that let
their pride rule their lives see the light that the only good in us
is the Holy Spirit and what He does through us.
Now every so often when I wake up I say out loud God is everything
and I am nothing.
I pray often let all that I do glorify the Lord.
My flesh gets in the way and I stumble and fall.
But our God is so awesome and He loves us so much that He gives us
many chances.
Praise the Lord for who He is.
Open your hearts and let the Lord fill it with only the best things.
Love, peace, joy, hope, and faith are the things that no one but the
Lord can fill our hearts with.
If you look to man you will see pride, selfishness, unforgiveness, hate,
no hope, and evil plots that they will use to try to put the
Christians down.
We all have to choose which we want.
Either to learn from the Lord.
Or learn from man and his many gods.
Like money, power, material things, drugs, and alcohol.
My prayer is that who ever reads these words, the Lord gave me, will
choose the Lord. That you'll keep a check on yourself and make
sure pride hasn't slipped in and you are taking credit for what the
Lord has done through you. Tell yourself often God is everything
and I am nothing.
