UNTAMABLE TONGUE
As Christians we try to walk in the ways of our Lord Jesus Christ.
What gets us in more trouble is our tongies.
When someone hurts us we lash out ot them with words that can cut
to the bone.
Who ever said sticks and stones can break our ones but words can
never harm us didn't have a clue just how much they do hurt.
A bruise or cut will heal and we never give them another thought.
But the names and words stay with us a very long time and it makes it
hard to forgive someone when there has been emotional abuse.
If we are witnessing to someone about the grace of God in one breath
and curse another you won't lead the lost soul to the light.
That lost one will hear you say one thing and act another way.
James 3:9 says, "with it we bless our God and Father, and with it we
curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God."
James 3:6 says, "And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The
tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body
and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
No man can control the tongue.
Only the Holy Spirit can subdue the tongue.
We must pray daily to ask the Lord to shut our mouths so we won't
say hurtful things to others.
We must not speak when we are angry.
The thing we need to do is if we are angry count to 10 before
anything comes out of our mouths.
That actually does work to a certain extent.
If you are still angry excuse yourself until you have your temper under
control.
Then go back later and discuss the situation calmly.
Jesus said, our tongues are like a double edge sword.
My prayer is that who ever reads these words, the Lord gave me, will
seek the Lord to help them control their tongues so they won't
discourage or hurt someone with harsh words.
